NYS OGS DOCCS Training Academy

78,349 square feet in new construction and renovations of dormitory/housing, a new gymnasium building which also has a maintenance garage and simulated training area, significant site and utility improvements, and armory for the Office of General Services (OGS) Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) Training Academy. All work was completed in a fully occupied secured site with on-going recruit training and in an active community neighborhood.

The buildings were constructed of masonry block and brick along with a precast plank system. A shingle roof system was installed along with windows that resembled a residential home in order to blend the buildings into the surrounding neighborhood. The gymnasium was a combination of building systems, the main structure is a prefabricated metal building. The project was completed in the midst of the world wide COVID-19 Pandemic which resulted in schedule impacts and the need to expand on the ability to successfully manage the project and personnel on site while meeting all DOH, CDC and all other State guidelines. BBL assisted the Office of General Services (OGS) with the review, implementation and managing of the Project Labor Agreement (PLA) established for this project, which contained a single prime contractor.
