Northeast Parent & Child Society hired BBL to examine their masterplan design and budget for a new children’s home. The original masterplan proposed a $14 million renovation and addition project to their existing facility. BBL instead proposed a new, larger facility at a savings of approximately $4 million. The two phase project consisted of building the new facility on the site where the ball fields stood while the existing home remained operational. Once the new facility was completed, the old building was demolished to make way for new athletic fields. The entire project took 14 months to complete.

The two story housing pod includes 80 bedrooms for the children, as well as a kitchen, living rooms, internet access and plasma TV’s. The remainder of the school reflects today’s modern educational needs with a regulation size gymnasium, cafeteria / auditorium, full service commercial kitchen and new recreational fields. The building is also fully sprinklered and alarmed with a 100 camera monitoring system. The 55,000 square foot facility replaced the ageing and inefficient 1950’s, 38,000 square foot children’s home and created a environment which far exceeded NEP’s expectations.
